  • Approximately 10,000 trees are given away
  • Trees are given to each Elementary School, Parks & Recreation    Dept.
  • Approximately 520 individuals received trees 
 
 
 
Envirothon 
 
  • High School Juniors and Seniors
  • Teaches about  the environment, forestry, wildlife management, water quality & soil erosion
  • District, State and National Competitions with scholarships awarded
 
 
 
Field Day 
  • 5th Graders
  • Broaden Children’s knowledge of the environment they live in
  • Held in the Spring  of Each Year
  • Riverpark Museum
  • Students and Teachers receive T-shirts
  • Volunteers from Museum of Natural Science, Mississippi Dept. of Transportation, Dept. of Wildlife, Fisheries & Parks, MSU Extension Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, USDA/Natural Resources Conservation Service, Tunica RiverPark Museum, Bureau of Land Management, Mississippi Forestry Commission, Tunica County Sherriff’s Dept.

  • Teach and Enhance children’s knowledge and interest in animals raised and crops grown in Tunica County

               Arbor Day
  • Second Friday in February is Mississippi’s official Arbor Day
  • Poster Contest for 5th graders
  • Tree is planted Downtown Tunica at Arbor Day Ceremony
  • Kindergarten Participates in a Program Downtown

        Cabbage Plant Program

  • 3rd graders
  • Teaches children about gardening and the environment
  • Bonnie Plants donate a cabbage plant to each student
  • Competition based on cabbage weight
  • $1000 scholarship awarded in each state

                Scholarships

  • Endowment Fund Scholarship
  • NRCS Scholarship – students interested in agricultural sciences
  • Envirothon Winner Scholarship
  • Teachers and Counselors are asked to encourage students to apply for scholarships.  Applications will be delivered to the schools.

        Soil Stewardship Week

  • Teach children about soils, plants and the environment
  • Held in March
